Diamonds are a girl’s best friend…

When we live without fear, or when we see the fear and do it anyway, only then are we happy. People talk a lot about having money so that they can be free, but freedom is rather different from that. It is the knowledge that you are OK no matter what happens next. That you can live within whatever life has to offer without having to pretend. No personal development guru will ever tell you that. They will tell you that they can make you high on exciting events that are sure to come if you apply their techniques. They will tell you that they can make you rich. Yet, the only thing we really know is that life happens. When you feel secure in yourself dealing with that, when you are happy just experiencing, learning and practicing whom you want to be (because let’s face it – no one reacts how they want to react to life day one – it takes practice and the more we practice, the more we raise the bar for whom we want to become next, so even if we have started reacting to life in the way we decided we wanted to a year ago, that’s no longer our goal, so we are back to practicing again..)…well then I think you are happy. For real.

We live in a society where diamonds are considered important. Valuable. It’s not diamonds that sparkle the brightest though, it’s you. You are, after all, made of star dust. When you live every day to the full, embracing all that you are and doing your best to be all that you want to be, then you sparkle – the dust has once again become a star. People don’t walk into a room to look to see if anyone is wearing diamonds. People walk into a room to see if there is someone who sparkles – someone who stands out from the crowd, not because of what they wear, but because of whom they are.

By the end of the day it’s not diamonds that will pay your bills, or attract the attention of your ideal partner and friends. It’s not diamonds that are going to give you great health, or peace of mind.  It’s not diamonds that will make you sparkle – it’s you…

The moon can only reflect the light of the sun, just like a diamond can only reflect the light of you – on its own it’s just a stone.

I love this post. Just recently I have been thinking how much I want to reach my ‘destination’ (in terms of career) by a certain age, that I forget about enjoying every step of the process. And your right it’s all about practice. I think the first five lines summed it up for me. “People talk a lot about having money so that they can be free, but freedom is rather different from that. It is the knowledge that you are OK no matter what happens next. That you can live within whatever life has to offer without having to pretend.” Im going to reread that whenever I feel pressure!
